Camelot Parent Cafe

Camelot Phoenix Academy in Lancaster, PA held its first Parent Café on Tuesday March 25th, with guests from Sylvan Learning Center present to talk about college and life after high school. According to Special Education Director Megan Misnik, who organized the event, the Café was “a big success.”

At this meeting, Sylvan Learning Center staff provided students and families preparing for college with key information on the application process. Topics covered included college entrance exams, how to finance college through federal or private loans, and the early application process. In addition, Guidance Counselors Mrs. Falcon and Mrs. Rodriguez were available to help students and their families complete the FAFSA forms.

Over 50 parents and students attended the event, a great show of support from Camelot students for post-secondary schooling. Several parents of middle-school age children attended as well, and they received valuable advice on how to prepare for the college application process. The entire event was connected to the Camelot philosophy of seeing the best in every student, both now and after graduation. Ms. Misnik hopes to offer similar workshops every semester!
