Camelot Therapeutic Day Schools honors Employee of the Year Individual assistant from DeKalb campus is selected
(Dekalb, IL – August 24, 2012)
It takes an entire team of people to ensure that every child who attends a Camelot Therapeutic Day School gets the care and education he or she needs.
In choosing its first ever Therapeutic Day School staff member of the year, Camelot could have chosen from among the school’s excellent dedicated teachers, social workers, or counselors. But, instead, the award went to a man who may be closest to his students, Individual Assistant Bilal Karim.
Karim works directly with one child a time to make sure that child’s physical and emotional needs are met so that he or she is best able to learn.
“Karim is very devoted to his students. Like all of our Individual Assistants, he has to do the non-glamorous work that enables students to learn and thrive at our schools,” said Theresa Smith, VP of Camelot’s Therapeutic Day Schools. “We felt it was especially important with this first annual award to showcase Karim and his position.”
Because the Therapeutic Day Schools serve children and young adults with a variety of learning and health difficulties, Individual Assistants provide a vital service to many of the schools’ students.
With nine children of his own, Bilal knows a little something about nurturing. They all attended the award ceremony and showed how proud they are of their dad.
The Therapeutic Day Schools are a quality solution for children with exceptional needs when a traditional school structure has not been successful. Each child at one of the Therapeutic Day Schools receives a program unique to their needs. The therapies, treatment, and practices utilized in these schools truly are visionary and help children succeed.
