Students got the chance to enter the field just like BBCHS’s football players do.

Students at South Suburban Center for Exceptional Learners had a day of fun at the 2nd Annual Boilermaker Fall Games, held on Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School’s football field.

The Boilermaker Fall Games is an annual event that supports Camelot’s overall mission to bring alternative education to students that need it, and to reengage students that feel isolated.

Designed to include the area’s local high schools in addition to Camelot of Bourbonnais, the event hosted about 150 special needs students along with 500 volunteers, paraprofessionals, and “best buddy” students.

Camelot students were invited to participate in activities of their choosing including soccer, basketball and other sports. The students were supported by their peers and cheered on by the various parents and high schools that were also in attendance.

This event helped to promote a feeling of wellbeing to those who regularly attend Camelot of Bourbonnais, as well as the special needs students that attend other area high schools, encouraging them to get involved with sports and to interact with their peers.

The event helped to teach area children to honor those with special needs, and to bring together all of the children of the county into a day of unity.
