This year’s overall staff member of the year for Camelot’s Illinois therapeutic day schools is Vocational Coordinator Jo Zillmann from Camelot of Mount Prospect. According to the school’s executive director Kay Moravek, Jo exemplifies the “ABCs” of Camelot: A positive Attitude, excellent workplace Behavior, and Commitment to our students.

“Jo constantly has a smile on her face – it goes from one end of the building to the other! And she is constantly doing things to help others,” said Moravek. “More than anything, though, she is so dedicated to our students. She constantly goes above and beyond what is asked of her.”

As the vocational coordinator, Zillmann works with students who are transitioning into the workforce. She works with the students to explore various job opportunities, and she helps them to secure internships that will prepare them for the workforce. She helps them to pick out proper work attire, and she participates in mock interviews for potential internships and jobs.

“We are getting these students ready for the real world, and Jo is preparing them so well,” Moravek said.

Zillmann, who has been working for Camelot for 12 years, was nominated and then voted on by her peers as the Mt. Prospect staff member of the year. She was then selected by a Camelot Panel for the Region V award. Zillmann has called the experience “humbling.”

“This has been one of the coolest things,” Zillmann said. “I am so humbled because the people who nominated and voted for me are so in the trenches, mentoring and helping these children, and I’m honored that they see me as someone who can carry that torch.”
