Camelot  Academy Transitional School of South Shore student members of P.I.N.K. (Pretty, Intelligent and Klassy) celebrated the holidays and the end of the year with an overnight lock-in at Camelot Education’s Camelot Academy of Chicago late last month. The students bonded with each other by sharing stories, cooking, dancing and exchanging gifts during the all-night event.

The happening was one of several sponsored by P.I.N.K. throughout the year. Led by the members of The Bible Christ Church, where Camelot Academy of Chicago is housed, the P.I.N.K. program challenges and empowers the young women of Camelot by providing them with the tools to maintaining confidence, motivation and enthusiasm that is necessary for life’s endeavors.

“P.I.N.K. provides our students with a sisterhood in our building,” said Joseph Haley, executive director of the Camelot Academy Chicago.  “We offer them mentors, someone to talk to. – and they love it.”

School Principal Rachel Liddell, Administrative Assistant Yvonne Williams and Director of Operations Ricardo Waddy are sponsors of the P.I.N.K. program, which provides activities on and off the school campus, both during and after school hours.

“We’ve found that the program really helps to motivate our students – attendance is higher the days that they participate in P.I.N.K events, and we’re using that as motivation for the other four days, too,” Haley said.
