Monday, February 29 marked the date for the 2nd Annual Chicago Regional Black History Bowl, which was hosted by Chicago’s newest campus, Camelot Academy West Garfield Park. This event was developed by Executive Director, Brenda Williams. It is an exciting event which allows students to display their love for learning about the achievements of African-Americans. Our students are also extremely competitive and representing their schools and their academic abilities
This year, we incorporated semi-final rounds to reduce the number of teams in the final round. The semi-final rounds consisted of competitions between Safe 1 (Chicago Camelot Academy) vs. Safe 2 (Camelot Academy West Garfield Park), Excel Academy of Roseland vs. Excel Academy of Englewood, Excel Academy of Southwest vs. Excel Academy of South Shore. The following schools made it to the final round, Safe 2 (Chicago Camelot Academy), Excel Academy of Roseland and Excel Academy of South Shore.
While all students who participated received medals of academic achievement, Excel Academy of Roseland, was triumphant again this year! Mr. Booker, Executive Director of the Roseland campus continues to hold championship title for the second year in a row. Watch out for next years’ bowl, we’ll see if the Roseland Bears can make it a three-peat, or will another school take the title!
