Helping Others at Holiday Season
One of the tenets of Camelot schools, both for students and staff, is contributing public service to the communities in which we are located. This teaches our students the importance of “giving back” and it keeps our staff engaged with our stakeholders.
A great recent example was the combined efforts of our therapeutic day schools in Illinois. Administrators set a goal of assembling 75 “conform kits” for families moving into the new Ronald McDonald House in Chicago next to Lurie Children’s Hospital. Some families also stay in “sleep rooms” in the hospital.
The team assembled and delivered bags replete with tote bags, laundry bags, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes/toothpaste, snacks, fleece blankets (which students helped make), pens/notepads, crayons/coloring books, card games and more. Each bag displayed a special holiday message of hope.
The effort was a total success! The Ronald McDonald House Family Care Manager thanked Camelot for the “wonderful bags,” and said the first families to receive them loved them. She also said there were enough bags to last well into the new year.
Camelot loves children, whether they are our own students or patients being cared for at the hospital. Camelot’s team helped make the holiday season just a little more comfortable for the families of children with problems much greater than our own.
Thank you for a wonderful effort to the team pictured above:
